 WWII Submarine Veteran Barney Wixom,

 LT Barney D. Wixom  (USN Ret)

Barney started his Naval Career on surface craft serving aboard the  USS North Carolina (BB55). Early in WWII the North Carolina was torpedoed. It was at this point that he decided that submarines were by far the better choice and applied for Submarine School. His first Submarine was the USS Qullback (SS424). Barney would continue on in the Submarine Force until he retired after 27 years of service.

Barney became a member of the WWII organization and an active member of the Washington State Lockwood Chapter. He served as the editor of the Lockwood chapter newsletter, the Blow and Vent for many years until health forced his retirement. He passed away in 2008.
